Almere City Vitesse prediction 2023-12-17

Almere City vs Vitesse prediction: NETHERLANDS: Eredivisie betting tips on match 2023-12-16 11:15.
It might be a bit early in the season to label this particular match as a “relegation six-pointer”, but it remains a fact that both Almere City and Vitesse Arnhem will head into this match in the relegation zone. Very few people would have expected Almere City to have an easy time in their first season at the highest level, but after remaining undefeated for seven matches in a row, the comprehensive defeats suffered in recent weeks are still disappointing for their supporters. Almere conceded a total of 12 goals in their three straight defeats and managed to score just once in reply.

The newcomers have been the worst performing team in the competition at home, collecting just five points from seven games in their own stadium (W1, D2, L4). It’s not as though they’ve been lacking in ferocity, conceding a league-high 14.8 fouls per match and 32 yellow cards, but have struggled up back by conceding 17 goals.

Vitesse have been playing in the Eredivisie continuously since 1989, alongside FC Utrecht and the “big three” clubs of the division, and face a difficult fight to prevent that 34-year stay from ending in May 2024. Vitesse briefly held last place before gleefully handing it over to crisis-riddled Volendam, whilst managing their first win in eight competitive games last weekend (2-0 vs Heracles).

A lot is going wrong behind the scenes at Vitesse, who are in danger of getting into serious financial problems. It was hoped that last weekend is the beginning of an upward trajectory, but with six defeats in their last seven games on foreign soil (W1) and a total of sixteen goals conceded in the four matches prior to the win over Heracles, that is anything but assured. Nothing can be based on historical results against Almere, because the clubs have never met in an official match.

Players to watch: Thomas Robinet has found the net in half of his last ten appearances for Almere. Million Manhoef regularly overcomes the malaise at Vitesse and has scored four times in his last nine Eredivisie matches.

Hot stat: Together with Heerenveen, Almere and Vitesse had both suffered a league-high seven half-time/full-time losses after the previous round.
