Werder Bremen RB Leipzig prediction 2023-12-19

Werder Bremen vs RB Leipzig prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2023-12-18 17:30.
Despite losing just two of their last seven Bundesliga matches (D3, L2), Werder Bremen find themselves sitting just two places above the relegation play-off spot. A 2-2 draw last Friday against Borussia Mönchengladbach did little to help their cause and things are unlikely to get much better here as they welcome RB Leipzig knowing they’re yet to beat a side starting this round in the top-half (D2, L6).

A quick glance at the competitive H2H record between these two sides would hint at a continuation of that misery for Bremen, who have lost ten of their 13 competitive meetings with Leipzig (W2, D1). But if there’s any hope that can be taken from such a dismal record, it’s that both victories came on home turf, and Werder are fairly strong at Weser Stadium, winning four of their last seven league games there (D1, L2).

Home comforts helped Leipzig over the line against Hoffenheim at the weekend (W 3-1) in what was Emil Forsberg’s last home game for the club before he departs to New York Red Bulls. It was apt then that it was Forsberg who struck what proved to be the winning goal to wrap up
Leipzig’s fourth successive win in all competitions, with both teams scoring in each.

Now chasing five victories in a row for the first time since September, Leipzig are likely to either succeed or die in their quest of trying, given none of their last 14 Bundesliga away games have ended level (W8, L6). Set pieces have certainly played a huge part in the balance favouring the win column, particularly this season, with their 11 set piece goals this season second only to Heidenheim.

Players to watch: In the last five league matches in which Bremen have scored, Marvin Ducksch has netted in all five, each time either as the game’s first or last scorer. Forsberg has duelled ten times with Werder in his time at Leipzig, and he had an eventful visit here last season, assisting the opener and receiving a yellow card.

Hot stat: The designated home side has scored exactly twice in six of Werder Bremen’s last seven league games.
