Heidenheim Freiburg prediction 2023-12-20

Heidenheim vs Freiburg prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2023-12-19 19:30.
Heidenheim finally earned their first-ever Bundesliga away win on Saturday, crucially beating Mainz 1-0 to end the weekend in 12th and closer to the top six than the bottom two by way of points. That victory, in which they also their maiden German top-flight clean sheet on their travels, meant that Frank Schmidt’s men have now triumphed in back-to-back games for the first time since May.

This Wednesday, it will be a meeting of the two longest-serving active bosses in the division as Schmidt pits his wits against Freiburg manager Christian Streich. The pair have only met twice in history, with Streich’s Freiburg coming out on top on both occasions back in 2015/16, but Schmidt will hope to finally notch a victory in the personal H2H stakes given Heidenheim have won four of their last six home league games (D1, L1).

Freiburg head to Voith-Arena brimming with confidence after earning their third successive win ‘to nil’, beating Cologne 2-0 to move above Eintracht Frankfurt and Hoffenheim into sixth. And should they manage to shut out Heidenheim and take home the three points, it will be the first time that the Breisgau Brazilians have ever emerged victorious ‘to nil’ in four straight Bundesliga matches since their inaugural season in the top tier back in 1993/94.

Streich’s men will need to learn to be more solid early in contests though, as they have conceded a joint-high 11 goals in the opening 30 minutes of games this term heading into the upcoming round of Bundesliga fixtures. And a further negative omen comes in the fact that only Cologne have scored fewer than Freiburg’s six on the road in the division in 2023/24.

Players to watch: Only Leroy SanĂ© has more Bundesliga assists than Jan-Niklas Beste following matchday 15 this campaign, but the winger is only a booking away from a one-game ban. Michael Gregoritsch meanwhile has played a part in each of Freiburg’s last four goals (G3, A1) during their three most recent wins.

Hot streak: Freiburg haven’t received a card in the first 40 minutes of their last seven encounters in all competitions.
