Bristol City Hull prediction 2023-12-22

Bristol City vs Hull prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2023-12-21 19:45.
“A good solid performance with room for growth” was the verdict of Bristol City boss Liam Manning after the Robins earned the second victory of his tenure (D2, L3) against Sunderland last weekend (1-0). The task now is to go on and make it back-to-back league wins, though that’s something the Robins have managed just once so far in this calendar year, back in February!

If omens are anything to go by, they may well be in with a chance of doing so against Hull City, a club who they’ve lost just once to in 25 league games on home soil (W18, D6), a record which spans back to 1967! Entertainment could well be on the cards too, as the Robins have scored an eye-catching 15 goals over the last six of those (W4, D2), including five on two occasions.

This Hull side appear a different animal, as they find themselves firmly in the mix for a play-off finish managed by Liam Rosenior, who was interestingly in the last Tigers team to win a league game at Ashton Gate 11 years ago! They appear well placed to end that run here given they have picked up the joint-fourth most points away from home (17) in the Championship so far this season.

The Tigers should travel with confidence on the back of a 3-0 win against Cardiff last weekend, after which Rosenior said he was “really, really happy with how things are going”, and so too must be the club’s hierarchy, who rewarded the boss with a new long-term contract earlier this week. It’s not all likely to be plain sailing here though, with Rosenior unable to be on the touchline after being hit with a ban by the FA for comments made following a defeat at QPR earlier this month.

Players to watch: Bristol City’s top scorer Tommy Conway (5) now has three goals in his last six games, with two of those coming from the penalty spot. Hull loanee Scott Twine now has three in his most recent five Championship appearances – as many as he managed in 29 games at this level previously.

Hot stat: Since Rosenior’s first league game in charge of Hull last November, only West Brom (22) and Coventry (22) have kept more Championship clean sheets than the Tigers (19).
