Genoa Inter prediction 2023-12-29

Genoa vs Inter prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2023-12-28 19:45.
Newly-promoted Genoa have put six points between themselves and the Serie A (SA) relegation zone after a two-match unbeaten run pre-Christmas. A creditable draw with Juventus was followed by a comeback victory over Sassuolo, but extending that run into a third match looks tricky as they face league leaders Inter Milan, a side they’ve not beaten in the top-flight since February 2018 (D1, L7).

Home comforts could help Genoa sign off for 2023 in style, as Alberto Gilardino’s men are unbeaten in their last five matches at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in all competitions (W3, D2). Their last defeat on home turf came against Inter’s arch-rivals AC Milan though (1-0), part of a sequence of five of their last seven home games seeing them concede exactly once.

Inter spent Christmas four points clear at the SA summit after beating Lecce 2-0 in their last outing, leaving them in pole position to regain the Scudetto. The Nerazzurri have netted in 25 consecutive SA matches – a club record under a single manager – while only closest challengers Juventus have stopped them from winning across their last nine league games (W8, D1).

Simone Inzaghi’s side are also the only team in the division yet to lose on their travels (W7, D1), and as they haven’t conceded in their last four H2H visits to Genoa, they enter as huge favourites. With more clean sheets to their name than any other side across Europe’s traditional top-five leagues this season in all competitions, Inzaghi’s men are bound to be confident of bringing the curtain down on a successful 2023 in style.

Players to watch: Ruslan Malinovskyi has directly contributed two goals against Inter in the past (G1, A1), both coming in draws, as was the case when he was last on target for Genoa. Interestingly, that was also the result in the only personal H2H that Marko Arnautović scored in, although the forward is fresh off assisting Inter’s last league goal in a 2-0 win.

Hot streak: None of the last 14 SA H2Hs saw both sides get on the scoresheet.
