Hull Norwich prediction 2024-01-12

Hull vs Norwich prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2024-01-11 20:00.
Hull have hit a bit of a rough patch recently, losing three of their last four Championship games (W1), with boss Liam Rosenior trying to take the pressure off his players as he shouldered the blame for their New Year’s Day defeat at Sheffield Wednesday. The Tigers remain in the play-off mix despite their wobble, sitting just a point outside the top six ahead of Friday night’s game at the MKM Stadium.

Rosenior’s side are typically strong on their own patch, having won five of their last seven league home games (L2). Losing their first home league game of the year only twice in the last nine calendar years (W5, D2) would hint at a continuation of their impressive recent form on home soil, and with a six-match unbeaten home H2H record against Norwich to protect (W4, D2), the incentive is certainly there for Hull.

You’d have to go back to April 2007 for Norwich’s last win on Hull soil, and given the Canaries haven’t travelled all that well recently either, losing seven of their last 11 league matches away from home (W2, D2), there appears little chance of that run ending here. Failing to score in each of their last two on the road, Norwich now risk drawing a scoring blank in three successive Championship away games for the first time since November 2014.

A point at home to high-flying Southampton in their last league outing seemed pleasing on the face of it, but it did little to appease the Canaries faithful, who were angered by their side’s ‘back foot’ approach. Boss David Wagner is still a man under pressure, but the German defended his tactics in the aftermath, describing them as “brave”, something they’ll have to be again here if they’re to complete a first league H2H double since 1971/72.

Players to watch: Tigers loanee Liam Delap scored in the opening day’s reverse fixture and has played against Norwich for three different Championship clubs – losing all three games. Norwich’s Gabriel Sara has created the most chances in the Championship this season (74), carving out nine of those in that opening game of the season, which the Canaries won 2-1.

Hot stat: Norwich’s away league games this term have averaged a comfortable league-high 2.31 first-half goals per game.
