Lorient Le Havre prediction 2024-01-28

Lorient vs Le Havre prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2024-01-27 14:00.
A new year has not brought any change in fortune for bottom-of-the-table Lorient, who have suffered defeat against second-tier Sochaux in the Coupe de France and to Lille in Ligue 1 since the beginning of 2024. The 3-0 reverse at Lille in their last game means that the Bretons have now lost five in a row across all competitions and are without a victory in their last nine league encounters (D2, L7).

However, both of their top-flight triumphs this season have come at the Stade du Moustoir, where they have picked up nine of their 12 points, while they come into this round of fixtures only four points from safety. With 11th-placed Le Havre, who have never won at Lorient (D4, L4), in town on Sunday, this could be the ideal time for Régis Le Bris’ side to kickstart their campaign.

Although Le Havre are ten points above their hosts, their away form will not give their supporters much hope of ending their streak of winless visits to their upcoming opponents. Since returning to Ligue 1 last summer, they have won only one of their nine league games (D5, L3) on their travels and have drawn blanks in five of those matches.

But in spite of their troubles on the road, Le Club Doyen have made an excellent start to 2024, beating Lyon in the league in between two Coupe de France victories against Ligue 2 outfit Caen and lowly Châteauroux from the third-tier Championnat National. If they can add another win to this list, Luka Elsner’s team could even move into the top half of the table by the end of the weekend.

Players to watch: Expected to lead the line for Lorient, 17-year-old Eli Junior Kroupi will be looking to add to his tally of four goals and two assists this term, with six of his last seven goalscoring games across any level seeing him open the match scoring. Christopher Operi remained on the bench for Le Havre during the win against Châteauroux, but has already contributed two assists and one goal since the start of the year.

Hot stat: Le Havre’s last eight matches have seen seven red cards brandished.
