Leicester vs Swansea prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2024-01-29 19:45.
Leicester City booked their place in the FA Cup Fifth Round with a 3-0 home win against Birmingham City on Saturday but attention will now revert to their aim of an immediate return to the Premier League when Swansea City visit on Tuesday. Although the Foxes haven’t won either of their last two league matches (D1, L1), they still remain top of the Championship table with an eight-point gap to third-placed Southampton.
Enzo Maresca’s side have the strongest defence in the division, helped by the fact that they’ve conceded just eight times across 15 games at the King Power Stadium this season. In the league, they’ve dropped points only three times (W11, D1, L2) at home and the Swans’ arrival will be welcomed by Leicester fans who haven’t seen their side lose a home H2H since 1950 (W10, D4 since)!
Putting an end to that miserable run looks unlikely for the Welsh outfit, who have conceded eight goals across their last two matches, including five in the first half away at Bournemouth in the FA Cup on Thursday. Manager Luke Williams described that as a “horrible night for us” with his side having now won only once from their last eight away matches (D3, L4) and that was against bottom-of-the-league Rotherham.
Beginning this matchday in 16th spot, Swansea’s three away wins this season have all come against teams in the bottom half of the table whereas Leicester have double their points tally overall. As such, it could be another tough night for Williams who is yet to win a league match (D1, L1) since his appointment earlier this month from League Two side Notts County.
Players to watch: In demand Leicester midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was rested for the weekend’s cup tie but will return for this game looking to add to his 18 goal contribution this season (G9, A9), including an assist in the reverse win. Left-back Josh Tymon got two assists in Swansea’s last league away match and will have no fear of visiting the high-flyers after also grabbing an assist away at second-placed Ipswich Town earlier this season.
Hot stat: Swansea have not kept a clean sheet in their last seven league away matches and conceded in both halves in five of those games.
