Strasbourg PSG prediction 2024-02-02

Strasbourg vs PSG prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2024-02-01 20:00.
Although Strasbourg will have been disappointed to draw 1-1 with relegation-threatened Clermont at the weekend, the point did at least extend their unbeaten Ligue 1 streak to six games (W3, D3) as they push for European qualification. Sitting five points adrift of sixth-placed Reims heading into this matchday, Patrick Vieira’s men have only lost two of their nine home league outings this term (W4, D3), so a return to the Stade de la Meinau will be welcomed.

The hosts will have to be at their very best to get anything from this clash with PSG however, as they have failed to claim victory in any of the last 13 H2Hs (D4, L9) – conceding three or more goals in seven of those. That is especially concerning given Strasbourg have kept just three Ligue 1 clean sheets in 19 attempts this season – the joint second-fewest in the competition – leaving them particularly vulnerable here.

That said, PSG arrive in Alsace after drawing 2-2 with high-flying Brest over the weekend in an encounter where the Parisiens threw away a two-goal half-time lead and saw forward Bradley Barcola sent off late on. Despite that result though, the reigning champions are six points clear at the top and look good value to secure a record-extending 12th French top-flight title.

With manager Luis Enrique being linked with a return to Barcelona after Xavi announced that he would leave the Catalan club in the summer, PSG will want to respond on the pitch by getting back to winning ways. Their prolific attack is likely to aid their bid again here, with the visitors having now scored in each of their past 20 competitive fixtures as their search for a third successive league title continues in style.

Players to watch: Strasbourg’s Emanuel Emegha may have only netted four Ligue 1 goals this season, but all three on home soil served as match openers. PSG’s Marco Asensio notched up his third league strike of the campaign on Sunday, but the draw was the first time since May 2021 that his side have failed to win when he has scored, ending a run of 25 games.

Hot stat: PSG have kept a first-half clean sheet in eight of their nine away league games this term.
