Granada CF vs Las Palmas prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2024-02-02 15:15.
Granada need every advantage they can grab hold of to climb out of the relegation zone, a feat that appears increasingly unlikely after they notched up their 15th loss of the La Liga season with a 2-0 defeat away to Getafe on Monday. They’ll be hoping that an additional two days of recovery on upcoming opponents Las Palmas, who were automatically promoted to the top-flight alongside them last season, will give them the boost they sorely need.
A return back to Nuevo Estadio de Los Cármenes, where they have collected all but one of their meagre 11 league points this season, could also place them in a good position to get the modest turnaround they need to avenge a 1-0 loss to Las Palmas in the reverse fixture. But that would first require them to find the back of the net, something they failed to do in five of their last six league outings (W1, L5)!
The exception was a 2-0 win over fellow relegation contenders Cádiz, but Las Palmas are in a far better position to withstand any dramatic improvement from Granada. Boss GarcĂa Pimienta spoke of his “pride” in yet another competitive appearance against a La Liga giant, this time a 2-1 loss at home to Real Madrid in which they opened the scoring, with Pimienta revealing that he even received high praise from Real boss Carlo Ancelotti before the game.
Their performances against lower ranked opposition this season reflect the top-half status that they’ve enjoyed throughout much of the season. A 2-0 win at Rayo Vallecano in their most recent La Liga away outing boosted their league record against clubs starting this round beneath them in the table to an imposing W8, D3, L2 (W4, D1, L1 away from home). Those 13 games have averaged exactly two total goals, so there has been a fairly quiet manner to their success.
Players to watch: Myrto Uzuni, who was the last man to score before half-time for Granada in a league game, also did so when they hosted Las Palmas in the second tier last season. Javi Muñoz may make an impact later in the game after he struck some rare goalscoring form with second half strikes in Las Palmas’ last two league fixtures.
Hot stat: Las Palmas led 1-0 at half-time in six of their last eight La Liga matches.
