Huddersfield Hull prediction 2024-02-17

Huddersfield vs Hull prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2024-02-16 15:00.
Huddersfield produced the perfect response to squandering a pair of two-goal leads against Southampton last Saturday, bouncing back to beat Sunderland in midweek. The Terriers moved five points clear of the drop zone with that victory, which gives André Breitenreiter, who was appointed as their new head coach on Thursday evening, a little bit of breathing space as he acclimatises to the Championship.

Huddersfield could extend their gap to the bottom-three by seeing off Hull here, which would also make it three straight wins at the John Smith's Stadium for the first time since May 2022. Home-field advantage has been pivotal to their efforts this term as 21 of their 34 points have been won in front of their fans, while only Preston and Middlesbrough have beaten the Terriers here in league action since late October (W3, D4).

Visitors Hull find themselves among the gaggle of sides chasing the last place in the play-offs, level on points with Coventry who currently occupy that slot. After coming from behind to beat bottom-of-the-table Rotherham in midweek, the Tigers have now won three of their last four matches (L1), and with the magical Jaden Philogene – who scored a rabona in midweek – back fit, Liam Rosenior’s men are well placed to climb the standings.

After losing the five previous H2Hs, Hull are unbeaten in their last two meetings with Huddersfield, including a 1-0 win when the sides last met in November. That was on home soil, and their record in this part of West Yorkshire leaves plenty to be desired with defeats ‘to nil’ on their last three trips and no win since 2013 (D1, L3)!

Players to watch: Matty Pearson has recently returned from injury and the Huddersfield defender has opened the scoring in each of their last two home matches. Likewise, Philogene has scored first for his team in two of the last three matches, and he assisted in the reverse fixture.

Hot stat: No side has scored more than two goals in Hull’s last seven matches (W3, D1, L3).
