Sparta Rotterdam Excelsior prediction 2024-02-17

Sparta Rotterdam vs Excelsior prediction: NETHERLANDS: Eredivisie betting tips on match 2024-02-16 17:45.
After losing their match against Feyenoord last weekend (2-0), Sparta Rotterdam will play against the other professional club from their city on Saturday evening: Excelsior Rotterdam. Until just over a year ago, there was a drought of 12 matches in which Sparta did not win against city rivals Excelsior (L7), but in two of the three meetings that have taken place since then, this was the case (L1).

However, Sparta have not been in good shape in recent months with only one win from their last eight matches (D2, L5). The team has managed to breach the net just once in their last four games and that was from the penalty spot. They’re also poorly guarding their ‘Castle’ this season, with only two of their ten home games this season won. On home form alone, they would be mired in the relegation zone.

Since the first day of October, Excelsior has experienced the joy of leaving the field victorious after 90 minutes just once, despite playing 17 official matches since then (D8, L8). Last weekend, Marinus Dijkhuizen's team faced a 3-0 deficit against FC Twente within 15 minutes, which ultimately became the final result after no further goals were scored.

The Kralingers are enjoyed a lot of attacking output from winger Couhaib Driouech, who could technically boast to be the ‘Eredivisie’s fastest player’ with a recorded top speed of 34.55km/h, whilst he has been performed by far the greatest number of sprints (419) of the competition. With four goals and three assists, the man who was in the spotlight of PSV and Feyenoord is experiencing the most effective season of his career.

Players to watch: Tobias Lauritsen directly contributed to two goals in his three matches against Excelsior (G1, A1), whilst Troy Parrott is the only Excelsior player who has already been involved in ten Eredivisie goals this season (G7, A3).

Hot streak: Excelsior’s last eight away matches saw both teams score on the day, whilst they conceded 2+ goals in each of the last six.
