QPR Rotherham prediction 2024-02-24

QPR vs Rotherham prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2024-02-23 15:00.
QPR followed up a disappointing defeat at relegation rivals Stoke City by beating Bristol City 1-0 in midweek to further boost their survival hopes. That continued a rich vein of form for Martí Cifuentes’ side, who’ve now lost just one of their last six league matches (W3, D2) to move them within a point of the safety line ahead of this matchday, and the R’s are bound to be confident of further progression here at Loftus Road as they welcome basement boys Rotherham.

Success on home soil has been hard to come by so far this term though, with no side in the division accumulating fewer points on their own turf than QPR’s 14. They are unbeaten in their last three league outings at home however (W1, D2), and keeping things tight could be key to improving that run any further, as the R’s 44 goals conceded is the best such total in the bottom-half of the Championship.

Rotherham’s 64 conceded is by some distance the worst in the division, and unsurprisingly leaves them stranded at the foot of the table, sinking without a trace at present. The Millers put up a fight in defeat to Ipswich on Tuesday, but after equalising in the 94th minute, conceding to lose just one minute later was “heart-wrenching” according to boss Leam Richardson.

That comes as little surprise then, considering that his side have now lost five consecutive matches and sit a whopping 14 points adrift of safety pre-round. Defeat against Ipswich also continued a winless away run in the league that stretches back to November 2022 (D11, L18), but perhaps QPR are the perfect opponents to snap that streak against, as Rotherham are unbeaten in the last five H2Hs over 90 minutes (W2, D3).

Players to watch: Ilias Chair was on target for QPR in midweek, and he’ll cherish this fixture having directly contributed to three goals in four H2Hs (G2, A1) – helping his side avoid defeat in all three games he was involved in the scoring (W1, D2). Only one Rotherham player has outscored striker Tom Eaves’ three league goals this term, two of which arrived beyond the 75th minute.

Hot stat: Rotherham have conceded a league-high 13 goals in the first 15 minutes of matches in the Championship this term.
