Watford Huddersfield prediction 2024-02-24

Watford vs Huddersfield prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2024-02-23 15:00.
Watford’s much-needed 1-0 triumph at Rotherham United last Saturday was their first win in more than a month (D3, L4), and while they are not completely out of the Championship play-off race despite being ten points behind sixth-placed Hull City ahead of the round, they cannot avoid to lose further ground in pursuit of a Premier League return.

You could make a strong case for saying that the Hornets are the most inconsistent team in the EFL this season, as they are the only side across those three divisions with the same number of wins, draws and losses to their name (11). One of those 11 stalemates came in November against Huddersfield Town, and although Watford have failed to win either of the last two H2Hs (D1, L1), they did emerge victorious in four of their five prior meetings.

Huddersfield will be hoping that new boss André Breitenreiter, their third head coach this term, can be the man to steer them well clear of the bottom three. The German will certainly be acutely aware of the task facing him, having watched from the stands last weekend as a 92nd-minute equaliser against Hull City was quickly followed by the visitors snatching all three points (2-1).

One of Breitenreiter’s priorities will be to improve Huddersfield’s away results, as only Rotherham and Plymouth have picked up fewer Championship wins on the road than their two this campaign (D7, L7). And the West Yorkshiremen have also struggled massively when falling behind in league action this term, failing to register a single victory (D6, L13) in 19 such games – rendering them as one of four Championship sides yet to secure a comeback win this season.

Players to watch: After 12 matches without a goal, Yáser Asprilla has now netted in successive encounters, although only half of his six scoring appearances this season have helped Watford to victory (D1, L2). Jack Rudoni is one of Huddersfield’s biggest attacking threats, but in both of the last two outings that he has contributed to a goal, he has also been booked.

Hot stat: The away team on the day has scored first in six of Watford’s last eight Championship games.
