Lecce Inter prediction 2024-02-25

Lecce vs Inter prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2024-02-24 17:00.
Caught in the mid-table muddle, Lecce face the ominous task of facing runaway leaders Inter Milan as they attempt to steer further clear of the relegation zone. Only five points separate the hosts from 19th-placed Cagliari ahead of this round and a loss here, coupled with results elsewhere going against them, could bring them closer to the danger zone. And having lost seven of their last nine games (W1, D1), a run that started with a 2-0 defeat in the reverse fixture, that dreaded prospect looks like a distinct possibility.

A return to Stadio Via del Mare may provide a timely boost though, as the hosts have avoided defeat in five of their last six games at this venue (W2, D3). That sequence included getting five points against three current top-eight sides and the home fans will be desperately hoping to down another of the league’s big-hitters here.

Making that task difficult however is the fact that Inter are currently the team to beat in Italy and travel armed with a nine-point lead at the top of the standings after last weekend. The visitors’ 1-0 win in the Champions League over Atlético Madrid during the week has added extra gloss to their run of nine straight wins, six of which have come with a clean sheet, and with the last two top-flight H2Hs ending 2-0, it wouldn’t be a surprise if there’s another shutout on the way in this latest outing.

That was also the case in seven of their last 12 away league games, but concerningly Inter have conceded in three of their four most recent top-flight road trips. Even so, the visitors are still the only Serie A side yet to lose on the road this season though (W10, D2), with their attacking prowess (2.4 goals per game) playing an equally vital role as their defensive solidity.

Players to watch: Nikola Krstović could look for an early impact having scored Lecce’s opening goal with his last four league strikes, three of which came in the first-half. From the visiting camp, Hakan Çalhanoğlu loves becoming a playmaker against Lecce having assisted four times across his five personal H2Hs, including Inter’s opener in the reverse fixture.

Hot stat: Inter have been winning at half-time and full-time in nine of their last 11 league games.
