Millwall Watford prediction 2024-03-02

Millwall vs Watford prediction: ENGLAND: Championship betting tips on match 2024-03-01 15:00.
Neil Harris made history after he returned for his second stint as Millwall manager, becoming just the second manager in EFL history to coach a side in three separate divisions in the same campaign after Tommy Docherty in 1968/69. He then guided the struggling side to a stunning 2-1 win on Saturday against Championship promotion hopefuls Southampton, a result that helped to arrest an eight-game winless run (D1, L7), although they still remain only a point above the relegation zone. Last weekend’s win was definitely a start though, and the Lions will look to build on that by extending their three-game unbeaten H2H run against Watford (W2, D1).

One of Harris’ top priorities will be to improve their form at The Den, where Millwall have returned just two wins across their last 13 league games played here (D4, L7). Not only would a victory give Millwall some much-needed breathing space to the drop zone, but it would also mark consecutive home league H2H victories for the first time since January 2003 after a 3-0 success here last season.

This could perhaps prove to be an opportune time for the hosts to face Watford, who recorded their fifth defeat across six games at the weekend with a 2-1 loss to Huddersfield (W1). Although they remain closer to the top half in terms of points after 34 rounds, only nine points separate them from the bottom three, and Valérien Ismaël’s visitors could become increasingly anxious if they suffer defeat here.

A return to the road may suit the Hornets though, after a string of three consecutive home losses took the sting out of their season. That’s music to the ears of an under-fire Ismaël because they’ve avoided defeat in eight of their last nine away league games (W5, D3), whilst each of their last five league wins have also come away from home!

Players to watch: Tom Bradshaw will be looking forward to facing Watford, having scored a first-half hat-trick in this contest last season, as well as assisting Millwall’s opener in the reverse fixture. Mileta Rajović was the reason Watford earned a point from that game, scoring deep into stoppage time, with that one of four of his last eight league goals to arrive beyond the 75th minute.

Hot stat: At home, Millwall have conceded seven of their last ten goals before half-time.
