Bochum RB Leipzig prediction 2024-03-02

Bochum vs RB Leipzig prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-03-01 14:30.
Bochum couldn’t follow up on their standout 3-2 victory over Bayern Munich last time out and instead fell to a heavy 5-2 defeat away at Borussia Mönchengladbach. Such a hefty loss took their goals against tally to 46, and with only basement side Darmstadt having conceded more at the end of the last round, it’s easy to see why Bochum start this round just one place above the relegation play-off spot.

The home side do still boast a comfortable eight-point gap to Cologne who sit directly below them coming into the gameweek, but what was a three-game unbeaten league run now looks far less impressive after Saturday’s defeat means Bochum have now won just one of their last five Bundesliga outings (D2, L2). Their home form this season would at least indicate they look well-placed to bounce back, with only recent opponents Mönchengladbach leaving Vonovia Ruhrstadion stadium with a league win so far (W4, D6).

RB Leipzig will aim to end that solid run of home form while bouncing back themselves from last week’s morale-damaging defeat at a wounded Bayern Munich where they drew level at 1-1 before conceding in second-half stoppage time to lose 2-1. As a result, it’s now just two league wins in eight for Marco Rose’s side (D2, L4) who are at risk of losing ground in this season’s tight top four race.

Leipzig are a point behind fourth-placed Borussia Dortmund who travel to Union Berlin – a team with the same number of points as Bochum. Therefore, not bettering or at least matching that result could have a negative impact psychologically as well as in the league standings for the visitors. Failure to win against this opposition seems incomprehensible for Leipzig, who have only lost one of the past ten competitive H2H meetings, meaning history is firmly on their side (W8, D1).

Players to watch: Defender Keven Schlotterbeck is in a hot run of form, scoring two of his three league goals for Bochum across their past two matches. Scorer and Flashscore’s Player of the Match in the win against Gladbach two weeks ago, midfielder Xavi Simons was one of two players to miss a penalty for Leipzig in the reverse (0-0).

Hot stat: Bochum are one of just two Bundesliga sides to score in 100% of their home league games this season.
