Darmstadt Augsburg prediction 2024-03-02

Darmstadt vs Augsburg prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-03-01 14:30.
Darmstadt’s miserable return to the Bundesliga continued last weekend when a 1-1 draw on the road against Werder Bremen saw their winless run in Germany’s top-flight extend to 16 consecutive matches (D6, L10). That form in turn left the Lilies a huge 12 points adrift of safety at the beginning of this matchday, and four points shy of the relegation play-off position that appears to be their most likely route to survival.

Although they’ve outscored three of the four teams directly above them in the standings this season, it’s been their woeful defensive performances that have sunk Darmstadt to the bottom of the table. No side are close to having a worse record than the hosts’ 52 goals conceded, though in this clash against Augsburg, Darmstadt could at least seal a league double after a 2-1 success in the reverse meeting.

Visiting Augsburg will be desperate to deny them that satisfaction, and after they won 2-1 against Freiburg on Sunday, the away side should be full of confidence after snapping their own four-match Bundesliga winless streak (D2, L2). Jess Thorup’s side begin this round sitting fairly safely in mid-table after that victory, though a push for the European spots still seems unlikely at present due to their inconsistent nature.

Despite picking up those three valuable points at the weekend, Augsburg have still remarkably failed to keep a single clean sheet across their 23 league outings this term – the worst record of any side. The Bavarian side have also failed to score in five of their 11 away trips this campaign (45%) – the second-highest percentage in the competition going into this round – so success could prove hard to come by here!

Players to watch: Darmstadt’s Tim Skarke has struck six Bundesliga goals this season, with three of the last four coming between the 50th and 60th minutes, including an opening strike in the reverse H2H. Augsburg’s Phillip Tietz will be desperate to get revenge on his former side here and he could strike early as four of his five league goals this term came before half-time.

Hot stat: Darmstadt’s Bundesliga matches this season have averaged just 8.70 corners in total – the fewest of any side in the competition.
