Lorient Lyon prediction 2024-03-09

Lorient vs Lyon prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2024-03-08 16:00.
[p]Lorient’s recent rejuvenation has been a sight to behold, with Régis Le Bris somehow masterminding four wins from their last five Ligue 1 matches (L1) following a winless run of 11 games in all competitions (D3, L8). Their reward is an escape from the relegation zone for the time being, with the hard work of staying clear of the bottom three now beginning. [/p]

[p]Their last outing saw them impressively beat rivals Rennes 2-1 on the road in a Breton derby, with Les Merlus now returning to the Stade du Moustoir, where that lone loss against Nantes occurred amid the flurry of victories. The home faithful will be wary of getting overly excited about their side’s recent upturn in fortunes however, since much of that success has been on their travels, with Lorient winning just one of their last seven on their own patch (D2, L4).  [/p]

[p]On Saturday, they take on Lyon, who were also in sparkling form until this weekend, when they fell to a 3-0 defeat against Lens after a streak of six wins in all competitions. Four of those victories were in Ligue 1, easing fears of relegation, but much like their hosts, Pierre Sage’s men will feel that the drop zone is still too close for comfort. [/p]

[p]Lyon’s horrendous start to the season is to blame for that, something that they are still recovering from, as underlined by the fact that their points tally of 28 is their lowest at this stage of a top-flight campaign since 1995/96. Perhaps a road trip is exactly what Les Gones need then, having won five of their last six matches away from the Groupama Stadium. [/p]

[p]Players to watch: January signing Mohamed Bamba has got off to a fine start at Lorient, becoming only the fourth player in the 21st century to score six Ligue 1 goals in his first six games in the competition. Maxence Caqueret’s appearances on the scoresheet are few and far between, but he has often popped up when it mattered, with four of his last five strikes serving as the matchwinner. [/p]

[p]Hot stat: Seven of the last eight H2Hs have seen both teams score.[/p]
