West Ham vs Burnley prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2024-03-09 14:00.
[p]Itâs back to a Thursday-Sunday schedule for West Ham, but perhaps not for too much longer after they marked their return to the Europa League with a 1-0 defeat away to Freiburg in the  first leg of their last 16 tie. That leaves them with work to do ahead of Thursdayâs return leg, but thereâs the small matter of hosting Burnley in the meantime, and after boss David Moyes admitted European qualification is the aim in the league, donât expect a weakened Hammers side. [/p]
[p]West Ham have enjoyed facing Burnley of late, going unbeaten in their last five H2Hs (W3, D2), including a dramatic 2-1 win in the reverse when they turned around a 1-0 deficit at the 85th-minute mark to triumph. They did something similar in last weekendâs 3-1 victory over Everton, and with nine wins from their last ten Premier League home games against newly-promoted opposition (L1), they look good value to complete a H2H league double here.[/p]
[p]Completing such a double over Burnley this season perhaps wouldnât be as eye-catching as it may seem, as theyâve already been âdoubledâ by six sides in league action. Bournemouth were the latest side to do so as recently as last weekend, as they became the 11th team to leave Turf Moor victorious this season, and as a chorus of boos again greeted the full-time whistle, boss Vincent Kompany will likely be glad to hit the road. [/p]
[p]In a season of very few positives, Burnley have at least collected more points away from home (eight) than they have in East Lancashire (five). None of those eight have come recently though, with the Clarets losing each of their last four league road trips, conceding exactly three goals in each, leaving them on the brink of suffering five-straight top-flight away defeats for the first time since the 2016/17 season. [/p]
[p]Key battle: West Hamâs TomĂĄĆĄ SouÄek has scored in the second half of his last two meetings with Burnley, both of which were the last goal of the game. Heâll be marshalled by a product of the West Ham academy in Burnleyâs Josh Cullen who, recently recalled into the team, has earned three yellow cards from six away league appearances this season. [/p]
[p]Hot stat: Burnley hold the Premier Leagueâs worst points recovery record this season when conceding first (D1, L16).[/p]
