Chelsea vs Burnley prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2024-03-29 15:00.
[p]With the final international break of the Premier League season out of the way, Chelsea’s immediate focus is on bridging the gap to the European places. Having booked their place in the FA Cup semi-finals prior to the break, the Blues have an alternate route into Europe, but given they were drawn against Manchester City, their best chance of gracing the continental stage next season will probably require them to get out of the bottom half of the table and into the top seven.[/p]
[p]Their quest to make a late surge up the table starts with the visit of Burnley – a side they’ve avoided defeat against in the last ten meetings (W8, D2). The fact both of those draws came at home shows Chelsea do have an air of vulnerability in this fixture, but they’ve been largely formidable at home of late, winning five of their last six league games at Stamford Bridge (L1) – four of which came by a one-goal margin. [/p]
[p]Beating the drop looked like mission impossible two weeks ago for Burnley, but after beating Brentford 2-1 before the break was followed up by news that Nottingham Forest had been deducted four points, it’s now only mission improbable. The Clarets remain five points adrift of safety, but boss Vincent Kompany insists his side still have “total belief” they can survive in the top-flight. [/p]
[p]Whether he has any belief they can leave here victorious or not remains to be seen, as Burnley travel on the back of a five match winless away league run (D1, L4). They conceded at least twice in each of those games, but can perhaps take heart from the fact their last Premier League away win came not too far away from here – just two miles in fact – at Fulham back in December (2-0). [/p]
[p]Players to watch: Cole Palmer opened his Chelsea account from the penalty spot in the reverse fixture (W 4-1) – one of 11 of his 14 goals for the club to arrive before the hour mark. Another man who opened his league account for his respective club that day was Burnley’s Wilson Odobert, who has opened the scoring with all three of his Premier League goals, including against Fulham in their last away win.[/p]
[p]Hot streak: Chelsea have conceded exactly twice in their last four games.[/p]
