Freiburg Wolfsburg prediction 2024-04-27

Freiburg vs Wolfsburg prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-04-26 13:30.
[p]Freiburg will likely be relieved to be taking another step towards the end of what has been a largely forgettable Bundesliga campaign. With four rounds to go, Christian Streich’s men sit five points adrift of sixth and their best chance of qualifying for European football could be through Leverkusen winning May’s DFB-Pokal final and transferring their Europa League ticket down the table. Their ambitions of sneaking a European placing have been helped recently by avoiding defeat in three of their past four league games (W2, D1). [/p]

[p]A points tally 16 fewer than this stage of last season shows how steep Freiburg’s regression has been. Despite their recent uptick in form, goals have been a problem with the home side not netting more than one in any of their last three league matches. Yet, just one goal was enough to settle the previous meeting with Wolfsburg in their favour (1-0) and extend a strong H2H record to four wins from the last five meetings (L1). [/p]

[p]Wolfsburg need to buck that trend here if they’re to move one step closer to sealing their Bundesliga survival. They secured a significant win last weekend over relegation rivals Bochum to open a four-point gap to the bottom three, and that win also continued a trend that saw each of their three league wins since mid-December being accompanied by a clean sheet.  [/p]

[p]No clean sheet in any of the winless fixtures across that period sheds some light on why a strong defensive showing will be crucial if the Wolves are to secure successive league wins for the first time since the opening two rounds of the campaign. That seems a tall order based on their away record against the division’s better sides, with no away win to their name against any current top-ten side (D2, L6) as well as multiple goals conceded in six of those eight matches. [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Including the previous round, Michael Gregoritsch opened the scoring for his side in each of his last two scoring appearances, whilst he also scored the only goal of the reverse H2H. Jonas Wind finally ended an 18-game run without a league goal for Wolfsburg to notch his tenth of the campaign against Bochum. [/p]

[p]Hot stat: The pre-match favourite has won 11 of Wolfsburg’s 15 away games this Bundesliga season (D3, L1).[/p]
