Clermont Reims prediction 2024-04-28

Clermont vs Reims prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2024-04-27 13:00.
[p]The clock is well and truly ticking on Clermont’s stay in the top tier of French football and with only four games of the season remaining, the side who currently occupy bottom spot in the table remain six points adrift of the relegation play-off spot ahead of this home clash with Reims. The Lancers have won just two games at the Stade Gabriel Montpied during this campaign, and could only draw 1-1 with mid-table Montpellier in their last home fixture, so confidence won’t exactly be flowing.[/p]

[p]They did at least find the net in that game, but scoring goals has been a major issue for Pascal Gastien’s side who have scored twice in only two of their 15 Ligue 1 home matches. At all venues, they’ve won just once since mid-January and it’s now four matches since they last experienced a victory (L2, D2). [/p]

[p]Reims have also failed to pick up three points from any of their last four matches and have won just twice from Round 19 onwards though. They went down 2-1 at home against Montpellier on Sunday, their second successive defeat, and any lingering hopes of a return to European football look set to be dashed with the Red and Whites starting this gameweek six points from the top six.[/p]

[p]Manager Will Still has been repeatedly linked with moves to clubs in the English Championship and, even if he is to depart this summer, he could still lead the visitors to their first top-ten finish since the 2019/20 campaign. They’ll need to get back to winning ways sharpish if they are to achieve that though, and in spite of a 2-0 H2H victory in August, trips to Clermont have generally not been enjoyable for Reims who have returned home with just two wins since the turn of the century (D4, L8). [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Since mid-March, Muhammed Cham is the only Clermont player to have scored at home and seven of his last eight strikes have come before half-time. Marshall Munetsi is another player who likes to strike early and he opened the scoring in the August’s reverse fixture. The Reims midfielder has scored ten times over the last two seasons with eight of those goals in the first half![/p]

[p]Hot stat: Reims have not been leading at half-time in any of their last 13 matches.[/p]
