Burnley Newcastle prediction 2024-05-04

Burnley vs Newcastle prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2024-05-03 14:00.
[p]A creditable 1-1 draw at Manchester United last weekend fuelled the fire of Burnley boss Vincent Kompany’s claim that his side have “earned the right to believe and hope” in their battle to beat the drop. Starting the round two points shy of Nottingham Forest in 17th, but knowing they face off against them on the final day, the Clarets’ turnaround in recent weeks has been monumental and there is now genuine belief they could become the first team in Premier League history to have fewer than 27 points after 35 rounds and survive. [/p]

[p]It’s now just one defeat in eight top-flight games for the Clarets (W2, D5), who are hitting a purple patch at the most opportune time with those around them stumbling for form. But they need to turn those draws into wins, starting with the visit of Newcastle, ironically the side who  relegated them back in 2021/22 to form part of a five-match losing run in Premier League H2Hs for Burnley. [/p]

[p]In desperate need of points themselves in their battle for the top-seven, don’t expect Newcastle to be feeling sympathetic for the struggles Burnley are facing. They highlighted that last weekend when they downed Sheffield United 5-1 to confirm the Blades relegation, and although they can’t relegate Burnley here, former Turf Moor chief Eddie Howe would love nothing more than to get one over on his former employers. [/p]

[p]Like their hosts, the Magpies are enjoying a revival of late, with four wins from their last six league outings, but their away form has been somewhat of a concern recently. Just three wins from their last 13 away league games (D2, L8) is hardly the form of European chasers, and having lost on their last three Premier League trips to the North West, they’ll perhaps travel with a seed of doubt in their mind. [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Burnley’s Zeki Amdouni scored his first goal of 2024 from the penalty spot at Old Trafford – his third goal from his last five for the club to arrive in a 1-1 draw. Newcastle’s Callum Wilson was also on target at the weekend and he’s netted five goals from his last four personal H2Hs – including a brace on his last visit to Turf Moor. [/p]

[p]Hot streak: Burnley have scored exactly once in all six home Premier League H2Hs.  [/p]
