Peru Chile prediction 2024-06-22

Peru vs Chile prediction: SOUTH AMERICA: Copa América betting tips on match 2024-06-21 00:00.
[p]With Group A of this year’s Copa América featuring the defending champions, 2022 World Cup winners, and tournament favourites Argentina, both Peru and Chile will know there is very little margin for error when they get their campaigns underway against each other. They’ll both also have to deal with tournament newcomers Canada in pursuit of making it to the knockout stages, something Peru have done in each of the last ten editions. [/p]

[p]Confidence will be flowing in the Peruvian camp since new manager Jorge Fossati has got off to a near perfect start, guiding his side to three wins and a draw in his four matches in charge. The Bicolour will therefore arrive at AT&T Stadium in Texas in good spirits, especially since the last time the Copa América was hosted in the United States in 2016, Peru went on to top their group for the only time this century. [/p]

[p]They’ll see a familiar face will be in the opposing dugout here, since their manager at the time Ricardo Gareca took over as Chile boss in January! There’s an element of pressure on his shoulders here, as Chile have reached the knockouts in their last six appearances at this tournament, while they actually won the tournament as recently as 2016. [/p]

[p]Gareca will be looking to replicate his new team’s fortunes from that 2016 campaign, which saw the Chileans lift a second successive title against all odds. A commendable fourth-place and quarter-final finish has been achieved in the two editions since then, and they could produce a surprise or two this year as they’ve won two of their three matches since Gareca’s appointment, only losing narrowly 3-2 to World Cup finalists France. [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Peru’s Gianluca Lapadula has proven to be a fast starter for his national team, with five of his last six international goals arriving before half-time. Attempting to steal the spotlight will be Chile’s Eduardo Vargas, who has tormented Peru in the past by scoring seven times in as many appearances against them.[/p]

[p]Hot streak: None of the last 20 H2Hs have been drawn (PERU: W6, L14).[/p]
