Jagiellonia (Pol) vs Bodo/Glimt (Nor) prediction: EUROPE: Champions League – Qualification betting tips on match 2024-08-06 18:45.
[p]The lesser known Polish side Jagiellonia Białystok certainly aren’t a household name where European football is concerned, but having reached the UEFA Champions League (UCL) third qualifying round, they’re already guaranteed to reach the league phase of one of the three European competitions for the first time ever. Regardless of the outcome of their two-legged tie with Bodø/Glimt, history is assured for last season’s surprise Ekstraklasa winners. [/p]
[p]They’ve made a good start to making sure they’re dining out at European football’s top table so far, blowing Lithuania’s Panevėžys away 7-1 on aggregate in the second qualifying round. That included a 3-1 home win, and having emerged victorious in their last five competitive home games, scoring at least twice in each, Jagiellonia are a force to be reckoned with at Stadion Miejski.[/p]
[p]While the hosts are something of an unknown quantity in the European sphere, Bodø/Glimt have become seasoned campaigners of late, safely navigating the European qualifying rounds in each of the last three seasons. In fact, all three of those campaigns saw the 2023 Eliteserien winners, and current 2024 Norwegian top-flight leaders, make it through to the later knockout rounds of the Conference League via one path or another, so they travel to Poland for the first time since February 2023 with some pedigree. [/p]
[p]That last trip ultimately ended in a 1-0 defeat, but Bodø/Glimt have travelled well since, losing just one of their last eight European away games thereafter (W4, D3). If that alone isn’t enough to breed confidence, then their five match unbeaten run should (W4, D1), and with their domestic season 18 games deep, they should theoretically display more match sharpness than their hosts, whose league campaign is a mere three games old. [/p]
[p]Players to watch: With an eye for an early goal, Afimico Pululu has opened the scoring inside 25 minutes in Jagiellonia’s last two home games. Bodø/Glimt will be hoping to see their lucky charm Ulrik Saltnes hit the target after he did so in both second qualifying round games – he’s not lost a game in which he’s scored since August 2019 (W42, D7). [/p]
[p]Hot stat: Only one of Jagiellonia’s last eight European home games saw both teams score. [/p]
