Fenerbahce (Tur) Lille (Fra) prediction 2024-08-13

Fenerbahce (Tur) vs Lille (Fra) prediction: EUROPE: Champions League – Qualification betting tips on match 2024-08-12 17:00.
[p]Fenerbahce conceded a late winner away against Lille in second-half stoppage time in the first leg of this third round UEFA Champions League (UCL) qualifier last week, losing 2-1. Now, the Turkish side must do something they’ve never done before in the competition, overturn a first-leg deficit, to keep their hopes of reaching the league phase (formerly group stage) in Europe’s premier competition for the first time since the 2008/09 season alive.[/p]

[p]Since that first leg, José Mourinho’s side have opened up their domestic Süper Lig campaign with a victory on home soil against Adana Demirspor, so may well be more up to speed come this second leg. And having extended their run across all competitions to just one defeat in 19 home games with that win (90 mins: W15, D3), Tuesday evening’s hosts may well fancy their chances of overturning the one-goal deficit.[/p]

[p]Lille, yet to begin their domestic Ligue 1 campaign, lost their last European tie despite winning the first leg when they were knocked out of the UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL) on penalties by Aston Villa last season. Les Dogues also haven’t made it through the qualifying stages into the group/league phase of the UCL since the 2006/07 campaign, automatically qualifying for the groups on four occasions since then.[/p]

[p]The omens look good for changing that here as the French club have never lost a European game against a Turkish team, with last week’s first-leg victory at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy extending their run to five against Turk sides (W2, D3). If that record is still intact come the end of the night on Tuesday, Bruno Génésio’s side will have booked themselves a spot in the play-off round against either Slavia Prague or Union Saint-Gilloise.[/p]

[p]Players to watch: Edin Džeko has scored 62 European goals in his career, including four already in this UCL qualifying campaign for Fenerbahce, none of which arrived earlier than the 40th minute. Jonathan David is Lille’s danger man having registered 35 goal involvements last season (G26, A9), including five in Europe (G4, A1), with two of those goals serving as game openers. [/p]

[p]Hot stat: Fenerbahce have hosted French teams ten times in European competitions (W3, D4, L3), and seven of those games have seen both teams score, including Lille’s previous visit in February 2010.[/p]
