Brentford Crystal Palace prediction 2024-08-18

Brentford vs Crystal Palace prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2024-08-17 13:00.
[p]The 2024/25 Premier League kicks off with a London derby for both Brentford and Crystal Palace who each went through somewhat uninspiring transfer windows. The hosts have already seen newly arrived star striker Igor Thiago suffer a lengthy injury setback, and with him being one of only two new faces at the club so far, another tough season could be in store after a disappointing 16th-placed finish last season.[/p]

[p]Brentford manager Thomas Frank will have to work with what he has at his disposal as he looks to end his sideā€™s run of six Premier League H2Hs without victory (D5, L1). Thatā€™s the most times the Bees have faced any side in this competition without recording a win – alongside Newcastle – whilst a return of just one win across their final four league matches of last season (D1, L2) could have Brentford fans dreading a return to action.[/p]

[p]Unlike their opposition here, Crystal Palace enjoyed a strong end to last season after the arrival of manager Oliver Glasner in February, finishing the campaign with six wins from seven outings (D1). But as far as their ambitions to climb even further up the table this time around are concerned, the club has been potentially hampered by the departure of winger Michael Olise to Bayern Munich – a huge loss given he recorded 16 league goal contributions last term (G10, A6).[/p]

[p]They were already the third-least prolific scorers in away games last Premier League season (20 goals), so Glasnerā€™s task over the off-season has been to determine how they can get more points out of their travels. His side are looking to win successive league H2Hs for the first time since December 1957, but after defeating just three bottom-half clubs on the road last league season (D4, L3), improving on the 1-1 draw at Brentford is far from guaranteed. [p]Players to watch: Brentford will be hoping that Ivan Toney can end his 12 league match goal drought here, although heā€™s failed to score in each of his prior three H2Hs. Jean-Philippe Mateta remains the star man for Palace, especially as since Glasner joined the club in February, no player managed to score more than his 13 Premier League goals.Ā [/p]

[p]Hot stat: Crystal Palaceā€™s away Premier League games last season averaged just 2.74 total goals – the second-fewest in the competition.Ā [/p]
