Celta Vigo vs Valencia prediction: SPAIN: LaLiga betting tips on match 2024-08-22 17:00.
[p]Celta Vigo came from behind to win their opening fixture of the 2024/25 La Liga season 2-1 against Alavés last Friday as they claimed a matchday one win for the first time in nine attempts (D3, L5). Head coach Claudio Giráldez was delighted his side had won a game he said they might have lost after a poor start, but they found their way to a victory which stretched their unbeaten league run to four games (W3, D1).[/p]
[p]As Barcelona were the last team to beat the Sky Blues at home (W5, D2), BalaĂdos has become a difficult place for opponents, including Valencia, who were their final visitors last season (D 2-2). Interestingly though, home advantage hasn’t given Celta much of a lift in recent H2Hs as they haven’t won any of the last three here (D1, L2).[/p]
[p]While that offers Valencia hope, they’ve started the campaign on the backfoot after initially leading Barcelona before losing 2-1 on Saturday – an all-too-familiar tale for a side who haven’t won a league fixture since mid-April (D2, L6). Manager RubĂ©n Baraja claimed the better side on the day lost, and despite bringing on talented youngsters David Otorbi and Martin TejĂłn, they were unable to fight back for a share of the points.[/p]
[p]Whether those two feature here remains to be seen but after winning only two of their last eight away league outings (D1, L5), Baraja might be tempted to mix things up in a bid to get back to winning ways. Historically poor starters on the road, last season’s victory over Sevilla was a first triumph in their opening away league game of the season since 2011/12 (D5, L6) with two of those defeats coming here by the same 2-1 scoreline![/p]
[p]Players to watch: Iago Aspas scored after half-time in both of Celta’s last two home games, including May’s 2-2 H2H draw when he registered his eighth career goal against Valencia. He’ll have competition from André Almeida however, after he netted the only goal in both of Valencia’s last two league away wins. [/p]
[p]Hot streak: Each of Celta’s last nine La Liga goals came after half-time.[/p]
