Crystal Palace West Ham prediction 2024-08-24

Crystal Palace vs West Ham prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2024-08-23 14:00.
[p]It’s back-to-back London derbies to start the Premier League season for Crystal Palace, but manager Oliver Glasner will certainly be hoping this clash with West Ham goes better for his side than the 2-1 defeat to Brentford on the opening weekend. While the Austrian was left frustrated after Eberechi Eze’s free-kick was controversially ruled out, he made “no excuses” for a loss that followed a seven-match unbeaten league run at the end of the previous campaign (W6, D1).[/p]

[p]That sequence includes four consecutive victories at Selhurst Park – starting with a 5-2 win over West Ham – while the next three were accompanied by a clean sheet against sides who finished in the top-eight. Palace have never managed five successive home wins in the Premier League era, but a four-match unbeaten H2H run (W3, D1) suggests that could be on the cards here.[/p]

[p]A tough first away assignment as West Ham boss for Julen Lopetegui then, made no easier by the pressure to get off the mark after his side were beaten 2-1 at home by Aston Villa last week. The Spaniard lamented “confusion” amongst his players in the early stages of that encounter which saw them fall behind inside four minutes as they lost on the opening day for the second time in three seasons (D1).[/p]

[p]Lopetegui may well be forgiven for a slow start as he integrates the club’s numerous high-profile signings over the summer transfer window. One thing the fans will be more desperate for him to fix is their away form, as the Hammers rounded off the 2023/24 campaign with three successive multi-goal defeats on their Premier League travels, conceding 13 times in total including five against Crystal Palace![/p]

[p]Players to watch: Harshly denied a goal last weekend, Eze will be confident of opening his account here as he’s scored in this fixture in each of the previous two seasons, with both ending in Palace victories and featuring seven total match goals. West Ham striker Michail Antonio faces a real battle to keep his place in the team, but he should be confident of selection here having scored on his last three visits to Selhurst Park.[/p]

[p]Hot streak: None of West Ham’s last 17 away London derbies in the Premier League ended level (W4, L13).[/p]
