Monza Genoa prediction 2024-08-24

Monza vs Genoa prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2024-08-23 18:45.
[p]After failing to keep a clean sheet across their final six league games of last season, new manager Alessandro Nesta had an immediate positive impact at Monza as they drew 0-0 with Empoli last weekend. But the next target for the Biancorossi is to end a winless streak of ten Serie A games (D4, L6), with no goals scored in their last three, when Genoa come to the Stadio Brianteo on Saturday. [/p]

[p]Along with the bottom two sides, Salernitana and Sassuolo, the Genoa were the only other team who Monza did the league double over in the 2023/24 campaign and they could be ideal opponents for the hosts, as they target victory in their opening home league fixture for the second season running after defeating Empoli last season.[/p]

[p]Genoa will certainly be no pushovers and make the 165 kilometre trip north looking to extend their run of just two defeats (W4, D5) since their loss to Monza in last season’s Round of 28. The mood will also be strong in the camp after they shared the points with reigning champions Inter Milan in Round 1 (2-2), thanks to a 95th minute equaliser![/p]

[p]Alberto Gilardino will be hoping that his side can use that late goal to spur them on and improve their away record from last season which saw them win only four times in the league. Although they began that campaign with a 1-0 win at Lazio, that was their first victory in their opening away match in Serie A since 2016 and one has to go back a further decade (2006) to find Genoa’s last away win at Monza.[/p]

[p]Players to watch: Dany Mota scored in both H2Hs against Genoa last season and Monza have won each of the last eight games when he has found the net. Vitinha also scored in the last H2H when Genoa were beaten 3-2. Incredibly, that’s the only time that he has lost when scoring in 18 club games (W15, D2)![/p]

[p]Hot stat: Genoa have trailed at half-time in only one of their last ten league away matches (FT: W2, D6, L2).[/p]
