USA vs Canada prediction: WORLD: Friendly International betting tips on match 2024-09-07 23:00.
[p]The United States of America failed to capitalise on a good start to the summer’s Copa América on home soil and crashed out of the group stages of the tournament. They now embark on a series of friendlies as they start the build-up to co-hosting the 2026 World Cup with Canada and Mexico, both of whom they play this autumn.[/p]
[p]Boasting a decent record in historical H2Hs against Canada (W20, D11, L11), the USA have also lost just one of the last six meetings (W4, D1) and their unbeaten run at home against their neighbours stretches back to July 1957 (W14, D9)! But as the search for a new permanent manager continues, recent home friendlies haven’t offered as much encouragement as they’ve won just one of their last five (D1, L3).[/p]
[p]Canada fared much better in the summer, making it all the way to the Copa América semi-finals and finishing fourth under new manager Jesse Marsch. Only eventual champions Argentina (twice) beat them in 90 minutes during that run, resulting in them breaking into the top 40 in FIFA’s rankings, although that still leaves them 24 places below their hosts, who are ranked #16th.[/p]
[p]The Canucks will take plenty of heart from their showing in the USA over the summer, although their performances in friendlies have been underwhelming of late as they’ve only won one of their last six such games on foreign soil (D2, L3). The most recent of those fixtures was a 0-0 stalemate with France – a solid defensive showing they’ll look to replicate here in another game they start as outsiders. [/p]
[p]Players to watch: Brenden Aaronson has started the season well for Leeds, netting twice in four Championship fixtures and he’s something of a good luck charm for USA as they’ve never lost a game in which he scored (W7, D1). After scoring two of Canada’s last four goals – both after the 70th minute – Jonathan David has been in fine form for Lille with five goal contributions across his last six games this term (G3, A2).[/p]
[p]Hot streak: Canada haven’t scored before half-time in any of the last nine H2H friendlies the USA hosted.[/p]
