Andorra vs Malta prediction: EUROPE: UEFA Nations League – League D betting tips on match 2024-09-09 18:45.
[p]For the fourth successive UEFA Nations League (UNL) iteration, Andorra begin in League D, but they may be cautiously optimistic that they can finally break out of the fourth tier this time around. The last UNL cycle saw Andorra clock up eight points (W2, D2, L2) – their best-ever return – but it wasn’t enough to earn promotion as their tally was eclipsed by two other nations. [/p]
[p]Moldova were one of those two nations to finish above them in the last edition, who they again share a group with, but in Malta they face one of just four UEFA nations ranked beneath them by FIFA. That certainly doesn’t mean this game will be straightforward for a nation who haven’t won a game since November 2022 in the last edition of this tournament (D4, L14 since), while the last time these two shared a UNL league, Andorra won neither game (D1, L1).[/p]
[p]Malta have the potential advantage of having a competitive game under their belt already this month, but they did lose that, going down 2-0 to Moldova in their UNL opener. FIFA’s #172-ranked side are now winless in their last nine internationals (D2, L7), and with six scoring blanks in that run, it’s clear they have an issue putting the ball in the net. [/p]
[p]That’s a problem amplified by the fact they’ve conceded 11 goals across their last three internationals, but in the UNL, against similarly ranked opponents, they haven’t had the same struggles. Malta have kept three clean sheets from their last five UNL away games (W2, D1, L2) – including a 0-0 draw against Andorra – so they may be quietly confident of getting off the mark in this UNL cycle here. [/p]
[p]Players to watch: Albert Rosas could be the man to bail Andorra out of any trouble should they fall behind, as his last three international goals made the score 1-1. Paul Mbong was the last player to score for Malta back in June, although a goal from him has been a bad omen in the past, as they’ve lost the two internationals in which he’s scored. [/p]
[p]Hot stat: Andorra have failed to score in ten of their last 11 internationals.[/p]
