Manchester City Brentford prediction 2024-09-14

Manchester City vs Brentford prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2024-09-13 14:00.
[p]New season, same drill for Manchester City, who won their opening three games of the Premier League campaign for the second season running. City are now looking to take another step towards matching last season’s six-match winning run to open the campaign when they host Brentford, and having emerged victorious in their last 12 Premier League outings, it would seem a mere formality for City. [/p]

[p]Arguably the most impressive aspect of that run is the fact that all 12 wins came by at least a two-goal margin, although only twice in six Premier League meetings have they inflicted a multi-goal defeat upon Brentford (W4, L2). They’ll expect to administer a defeat of some kind upon the Bees given they’re unbeaten in 31 home league games (W25, D6), although Brentford were the last side to beat them in the top-flight at the Etihad in November 2022![/p]

[p]That remains one of Brentford’s most memorable top-flight results, and after making a decent start to the season (W2, L1), they should travel North with a degree of confidence. They have a lot to prove this campaign after falling to their worst-ever Premier League finish last season (16th), and having lost star man Ivan Toney in a big-money move to Saudi Arabia, they now seemingly have a gaping hole to fill in their attack. [/p]

[p]It’s been the defence that has let Brentford down away from home of late though, with the Bees keeping just one clean sheet in their last 15 away league games (W3, D1, L11). Adding to that tally appears unlikely given Thomas Frank’s side have never kept a clean sheet away to a North West-based club in their short Premier League history! [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Thanks to his hat-trick against West Ham before the international break, Erling Haaland is the only player in Premier League history to have scored 7+ goals in the first three games of the season – four of his seven goals came prior to the 20th minute. Brentford defender Nathan Collins will be out to keep him quiet, but Haaland scored a hat-trick the last time he lined up against Collins at the Etihad. Collins has lost all four personal meetings with City, getting one red card in 2022.[/p]

[p]Hot streak: City have conceded exactly once in five-straight Premier League home games.[/p]
