Bayer Leverkusen Wolfsburg prediction 2024-09-22

Bayer Leverkusen vs Wolfsburg prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-09-21 13:30.
[p]After three Bundesliga rounds, reigning champions Bayer Leverkusen were the division’s second-highest scorers (nine), and they added four more goals to their season tally on Thursday night with a resounding 4-0 win at Feyenoord in the UEFA Champions League. Having found the net for the 18th league game in a row last time out against Hoffenheim, Xabi Alonso’s side have now scored 2+ goals in five of their six competitive matches so far this term![/p]

[p]Notably, Leverkusen’s only defeat in any competition so far this term came in their only league game at the Bay Arena, when they were beaten 3-2 by RB Leipzig last month. So, ahead of Sunday’s clash with Wolfsburg, Die Werkself may be aware that no defending Bundesliga champion has ever failed to win both of their first two home games, and they have only ever done that once themselves in the top-flight – in the 2022/23 campaign.[/p]

[p]Die Wölfe haven’t beaten a defending Bundesliga champion since January 2015, picking up just two points from 18 such H2Hs (D2, L16) since then, and for their last win away against the German title holders, you have to go back to December 2012! Having lost two of their first three Bundesliga games for the first time in 11 years, Ralph HasenhĂŒttl’s side will have to step up for this trip to the BayArena.[/p]

[p]Appointed back in March, HasenhĂŒttl has now lost six of his 11 league matches in charge of Wolfsburg (W5), conceding first in four of those losses. When they’re good they’re very good, as four of his five Bundesliga victories to date have come ‘to nil’, but if they lose it might not be pretty as four of his six league defeats have come by at least a two-goal margin. [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Jeremie Frimpong now has four goal involvements in his last three appearances across all competitions (G1, A3), with three of those coming in the first half. Perhaps an unlucky charm for Wolfsburg against this opposition, Mattias Svanberg has been booked in three of his four appearances so far this season, and has never beaten Leverkusen (D2, L1).[/p]

[p]Hot streak: Leverkusen are unbeaten in five Bundesliga games against Wolfsburg (W3, D2) – they have never gone longer without defeat against Die Wölfe in the top flight.[/p]
