Holstein Kiel vs Eintracht Frankfurt prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-09-28 13:30.
[p]Sunday’s Bundesliga action opens at the home of Holstein Kiel, who have had a baptism of fire since being promoted, sitting rock bottom after conceding a league-high 13 goals by the end of round four (D1, L3). A first-ever top-flight win can’t come soon enough for boss Marcel Rapp, but he doesn’t have any favourable H2H history to look back on given that Eintracht Frankfurt won the only previous meeting since the Bundesliga’s formation, winning 4-2 in the 1996/97 DFB-Pokal.[/p]
[p]Playing at home is unlikely to grant Kiel any reprieve either as they’ve conceded eight times across two home losses, falling behind in the first 20 seconds of their latest home clash against Bayern. Unsurprisingly then, Kiel have been trailing by half-time in all of their four league games so far, with a terribly porous defence their main area of concern. [/p]
[p]Contrastingly, Frankfurt boss Dino Toppmöller has helped the club post its strongest start to a Bundesliga season since 2016/17 by picking up nine of the first 12 available points. All of those points have come across the last three rounds, a run which marks their joint-longest winning run under Toppmöller, and the omens of them going one better here are very strong indeed, given their 11-game unbeaten run against promoted opponents (W8, D3). [/p]
[p]Despite the positives, there is reason for trepidation as Frankfurt make the journey north looking for a first pair of consecutive away league wins since November 2023. In fact, their latest victory was only their fifth across the last 30 away league games (W5, D11, L14), failing to keep a clean sheet in the last ten of those games. Defensive frailty appears to be an alarming pattern then, as Frankfurt twice squandered the lead against Plzeň on Thursday, conceding twice beyond the 85th minute in a thrilling 3-3 draw![/p]
[p]Players to watch: Shuto Machino may have earned himself a start for Kiel after coming on to score his second goal of the season last weekend, a late equaliser which secured a historic first-ever Bundesliga point for his club. For Frankfurt, Omar Marmoush has scored four goals across his last three league appearances and could strike in a fourth straight Bundesliga game for the first time in his career. [/p]
[p]Hot stat: Excluding the inaugural Bundesliga season, no league debutant has ever picked up fewer points than Kiel after four rounds (D1, L3). [/p]
