Atalanta Genoa prediction 2024-10-05

Atalanta vs Genoa prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2024-10-04 16:00.
[p]Atalanta and Genoa both finished the previous round of Serie A as bottom-half clubs, but it’s the former who will be especially disappointed with their position. Although it’s still early in the campaign, they were fifth in outright betting markets at the start of the season and even forecasted by Opta to finish in second, but so far La Dea have picked up just seven points in the first six rounds, failing to win the majority of matches where they were graded as favourites (W2, D1, L2).[/p]

[p]Manager Gian Piero Gasperini described last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Bologna as “a strong reaction” to the preceding loss to newly-promoted Como. October could well be the month that makes or breaks their season, with their next four Serie A games against clubs starting this round beneath them in the standings, but they at least started the month in perfect fashion with a UEFA Champions League rout of Shakhtar Donetsk in midweek (3-0).[/p]

[p]Genoa weren’t expected to beat Juventus in their last outing, but a second-half blowout left manager Alberto Gilardino to express some glum statements about their short-term future. Pointing to a slew of injuries and off-season departures as part of the problem, Gilardino conceded his team are “fragile defensively at the moment” and likely have a long scrap for survival ahead of them. [/p]

[p]Their only win of this Serie A season was an away one, which could give some hope, but detractors would be quick to note that they defeated last-placed Monza by a meagre 1-0 margin. Their current four-game winless run (D1, L3) includes their most recent away trip in which they failed to overcome one of the few teams starting this round with fewer league points (L 2-0 at Venezia), so it’s no surprise that they’re big outsiders here even despite the indifferent performances of their hosts. [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Atalanta forward Mateo Retegui is set to face his former employers for the first time, he boasts four goals this Serie A season, three of which arrived before half-time. This matchup is unlikely to suit Genoa striker Andrea Pinamonti based on his personal history of no goals and seven losses from eight clashes with Atalanta for any club (D1).[/p]

[p]Hot stat: Seven of Genoa’s last ten Serie A away games produced under 2.5 total goals, as did the last three H2Hs at this venue. [/p]
