Moldova vs Andorra prediction: EUROPE: UEFA Nations League – League D betting tips on match 2024-10-09 16:00.
[p]A convincing 2-0 win over Malta on matchday one in Group D2 means that Moldova are well-placed to gain promotion in the UEFA Nations League (UNL). They followed that result up with a 1-0 friendly triumph over San Marino, making it four victories in five games (L1) as they seek to avoid a repeat of the heartache from the last UNL edition, where only head-to-head goal difference saw them fail in their pursuit to reach League C. [/p]
[p]Moldova have certainly improved their form in this competition, having won their last four UNL encounters – more than their total number of victories prior to that run. Their scoring record has helped this upsurge, as Serghei CleČ™enco’s men have netted exactly twice in each of their last five UNL matches and in their last four such home games.[/p]
[p]Scoring once is a luxury for Andorra, let alone twice, as they have failed to find the net in 11 of their last 12 internationals (D2, L10), including five losses in a row prior to this clash. That current sequence includes a 1-0 defeat from UNL matchday one against Malta, but a three-team group gives them a chance to move off the bottom of the table with three points here. Only two wins in 19 UNL games (D8, L9) – both of which came against lowly Liechtenstein – suggests though that the Tricolours’ chances of stepping up on this trip look slim.[/p]
[p]One of those victories did however come in their most recent UNL encounter on their travels, and although repeating the feat looks difficult, the visitors can hope to at least get on the scoresheet. Three of Andorra’s last four UNL away matches have seen them find the net and a single goal could be enough in Chișinӑu, as was the case in their only H2H win in eight games (D2, L5) back in October 2019.[/p]
[p]Players to watch: Vitalie Damașcan scored a winning brace for club side Maccabi Petah Tikva on Saturday and has netted three of his last four goals for Moldova before the 30th minute. Marc Vales could also make an early impact, as his last three international goals have come before the break, while he was the matchwinner in Andorra’s only H2H victory.[/p]
[p]Hot stat: Moldova have scored first in eight of their last nine UNL matches – five times within the opening half-hour.[/p]
