Toulouse Angers prediction 2024-10-20

Toulouse vs Angers prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2024-10-19 15:00.
[p]Sunday’s Ligue 1 action sees a clash between two bottom-three sides with just one league win between them this season. Now in their third straight season in Ligue 1 thanks to a solid mid-table finish last time around, the outlook for Toulouse isn’t quite so rosy at this point, as not since they were relegated in 1993/94 have Toulouse posted fewer points at this stage of a top-flight season (W1, D2, L4). [/p]

[p]A home return isn’t necessarily going to remedy the situation either if Toulouse’s record of just one league win here since mid-March is indicative (D3, L5). Each of the five defeats in that sequence saw Toulouse concede at least twice whilst they even squandered a lead to lose in their latest home outing, a 3-1 defeat to Marseille, which contributed to Toulouse notching their joint-longest losing run across all venues under boss Carles Martínez (L3). [/p]

[p]Things are even worse for Angers, who are without a league win since gaining promotion (D3, L4). That’s the first time since the 1960s that Angers have failed to win any of their opening seven games in a top-flight season, heightening fears of an immediate return to Ligue 2. In their defence, six of their seven league games to date were against teams starting this round in the top half, so this could be their best chance of getting off the mark.[/p]

[p]Playing away from home is unlikely to raise belief amongst the Angers faithful, as you’d have to go all the way to September 2022 to find their last travelling victory in the top-flight (D4, L14). Managing to at least get on the scoresheet in six of the last eight of those jaunts, it is difficult to fully write Angers off given that they’ve scored four equalising goals across their last five top-flight trips. [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Shavy Babicka returns to Toulouse after netting for Gabon during the international break – each of his three goals at club level this season came on or beyond the 70th minute. As for Angers, Himad Abdelli scored two of his club’s five league goals this season from the spot, contributing to a run of eight club scoring appearances that saw both teams find the net.[/p]

[p]Hot streak: Angers failed to win their last 14 Ligue 1 games as outsiders (D4, L10).[/p]
