Auxerre vs Reims prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2024-10-19 15:00.
[p]Auxerre have largely struggled since earning promotion back to Ligue 1 (W2, L5), but they did at least head into the international break one point above the bottom three despite suffering a 3-1 defeat to Saint-Étienne last time out. Christophe Pélissier’s side will hope a home match against Reims can help them bounce back, as all six of the points that they’ve accrued so far this season have come at home. [/p]
[p]One thing that Auxerre can definitely look to improve upon is their overall defensive record, as only Saint-Étienne and Montpellier have conceded more goals in Ligue 1 this season going into this weekend. Pélissier will be buoyed though by the fact that AJA’s sole clean sheet of the campaign to date came in their last home game against Brest (3-0), meaning that they could win back-to-back top-flight home encounters ‘to nil’ for the first time since May 2011! [/p]
[p]Reims are greatly impressing under new boss Luka Elsner and are six without defeat heading into this clash (W4, D2) – their longest unbeaten league run since that 19-game sequence between October 2022 and March 2023. Les Rouges et Blancs sit fourth ahead of this weekend, and were they to win here, they would record a third successive Ligue 1 away victory for the first time since October 1962![/p]
[p]Reims also stand on the brink of scoring in ten straight top-flight away matches for the first time since April 1962, and despite failing to find the back of the net during their last H2H, they’ve never lost to Sunday’s opponents at any venue (W5, D1). The visitors may need to shore up their defence though, as only two other Ligue 1 sides have failed to keep a clean sheet this term. [/p]
[p]Players to watch: Theo Bair got off the mark for Auxerre at Saint-Étienne, but the forward has been on the winning side just four times in his last ten scoring appearances (D5, L1). Oumar Diakité meanwhile has been in the thick of the action over the past couple of months for Reims and the Ivory Coast, with four goals, two assists and three yellow cards to his name in his last ten games.[/p]
[p]Hot stat: There has been at least one goal netted before the 30th minute in each of Auxerre’s last eight matches.[/p]
