Verona Monza prediction 2024-10-21

Verona vs Monza prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2024-10-20 18:45.
[p]After losing their three previous fixtures, Verona went into the international break on the back of a 2-1 home win over Venezia, a result which sent their opponents to the foot of Serie A. The Mastiffs return to action by hosting Monza, the side who occupied that same bottom spot ahead of round seven, but who they have failed to beat across the last four H2Hs (D2, L2).[/p]

[p]The two teams played out a goalless draw when they last met in February, although the chances of Verona keeping another clean sheet in this clash seem remote as they have done so only three times across their last 18 games (W6, D3, L9), and in none of their last four. Paolo Zanetti’s men have also been slow out of the blocks, with his side yet to lead at half-time since his appointment in the summer![/p]

[p]A day before Zanetti took his new job, Alessandro Nesta was announced as Monza’s head coach, but it has proven a baptism of fire for the Italian football legend, who is yet to pick up a Serie A victory (D4, L3). After ending last season winless in nine league games, the Biancorossoi have endured a truly miserable 2024 so far![/p]

[p]Monza did at least move up a place in the table when they came from behind to draw 1-1 at home against Roma in their last game, and after two successive defeats previously, Nesta described that result as “a positive point against a strong team”. He’ll now be looking to build on that in this fixture, something that would be more easily achieved if they can end a run of conceding first in each of their last three outings.[/p]

[p]Players to watch: Since signing for Verona in the summer, all four of Daniel Mosquera’s direct goal contributions (G3, A1) have come at home, with three arriving after the break. Georgios Kyriakopoulos got an assist in this fixture last season and also laid on Monza’s last away goal in this campaign against Fiorentina last month. [/p]

[p]Hot stat: There have been 3+ match goals in nine of Verona’s last ten home league games.[/p]
