Union Berlin Freiburg prediction 2024-11-08

Union Berlin vs Freiburg prediction: GERMANY: Bundesliga betting tips on match 2024-11-07 19:30.
[p]After a hugely positive start to the season that saw Union Berlin lose just one of their first seven league matches (W4, D2, L1), their season has started to unravel. Die Eisernen failed to win either of their last two Bundesliga games (D1, L1), albeit the defeat came away at Bayern Munich, but they were also dumped out of the DFB-Pokal by third-tier Arminia Bielefeld in midweek![/p]

[p]Only once in 2024 have Union endured a longer winless streak, but there are solid foundations to fall back on, not least a solid defence which has conceded just eight times in the Bundesliga this term. Only the top-two can better that record, but that’s cost them at the other end where only newly-promoted St Pauli have netted fewer than their nine goals. Interestingly though, six of those strikes came on home soil where they remain unbeaten this season (W3, D1).[/p]

[p]Union have also never lost a top-flight home H2H (W3, D2), so a big challenge awaits visitors Freiburg. They sit one point and one place above their hosts in the Bundesliga table after being held to their first draw of the campaign by Mainz last weekend (0-0). That was just their fourth goalless draw throughout the calendar year, but ominously for the neutral, one of the others came back in January against Union![/p]

[p]Freiburg will hope for better fortunes in front of goal while also hoping to avoid suffering back-to-back away defeats for the first time since January. Their previous reverse – a 3-1 loss at Leipzig – came despite Julian Schuster’s men opening the scoring, something which they’ve managed in each of their last three road matches in the league.[/p]

[p]Players to watch: Union striker Benedict Hollerbach has seen all of his seven Union goals arrive on home soil, including one on the final day of last season in this exact fixture which Union went on to win 2-1. Freiburg’s Vincenzo Grifo has directly contributed to eight of their 13 league goals (G3, A5), and has had a hand in 14 goals in 16 personal H2Hs (G5, A9), though he’s won just three times (D4, L9).[/p]

[p]Hot stat: All of Union’s last seven home league wins came by a one-goal margin, just as eight of Freiburg’s last ten Bundesliga away victories did.[/p]
