Uruguay Colombia prediction 2024-11-16

Uruguay vs Colombia prediction: SOUTH AMERICA: World Championship – Qualification betting tips on match 2024-11-15 00:00.
[p]CONMEBOL qualifying for the next FIFA World Cup (WCQ) continues with a blockbuster clash as Uruguay host Colombia at the Estadio Centenario. Sitting in third in the qualifying table ahead of this round, not only will Marcelo Bielsa’s Uruguay be aiming to leapfrog their second-placed opponents, but also avenge a heated 1-0 Copa América H2H defeat in the summer when these two last met. [/p]

[p]On their X account, Uruguay sent a clear message with a recent post stating that they have a “thirst for revenge.” They’ll need to improve on recent form if they are to be successful in their quest however, having not won a game within regular time in seven straight outings, with the side also winless in four straight WCQ games (D3, L1) having failed to find the net in any of them! [/p]

[p]Under the banner of a World Cup fixture (which includes qualifiers), visiting these opponents have been anything but a success story for Colombia who haven’t defeated Uruguay away from home in such games for 51 years (D3, L5)! And having won just one of their five WCQ away outings (D3, L1) in this cycle, Colombia boss Néstor Lorenzo will be looking to fix their travelling form quickly. [/p]

[p]But confidence will no doubt be high in Los Cafeteros ranks as they’ve lost just one of their ten WCQ games in this cycle – the least of any side so far –  including a 4-0 demolition of Chile 4-0. Just like in that result, a stern defence has been key for Colombia, who’ve not conceded more than a single goal in a competitive game since October 2023 (W8, D3, L2), though that was against Uruguay in a 2-2 draw!  [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Two Liverpool men could be the difference makers in this clash, with Darwin Núñez arriving off the back of a goal in his club side’s 2-0 victory over Aston Villa at the weekend – he also netted in the last WCQ H2H between the sides. Meanwhile, Reds winger Luis DĂaz has five goal contributions from his last five outings (G4, A1) as well as a goal in Colombia’s last outing – each of those five goals arrived in the second half. [/p]

[p]Hot streak: Each of Colombia’s last six goals have arrived via different goalscorers! [/p]
