Spain vs Switzerland prediction: EUROPE: UEFA Nations League – League A betting tips on match 2024-11-17 19:45.
[p]Since a goalless draw against Serbia in September, Spain have won all four of their UEFA Nations League (UNL) matches, with their latest victory against Denmark (2-1) guaranteeing that they will finish top of Group A4. La Roja had already secured their place in the quarter-finals last month, but in pursuit of a first-ever unbeaten UNL campaign, they’re unlikely to take their foot off the gas. [/p]
[p]The defending UNL champions should be confident of doing so given they are on a 20-match competitive unbeaten run (W19, D1) – Spain’s longest such sequence since a 28-game streak (W25, D3) between June 2010 and October 2013. Coincidentally, that older run started following a 1-0 loss to Switzerland at the beginning of the 2010 FIFA World Cup group phase. [/p]
[p]Since then, the Red Crosses have beaten Spain just once in seven meetings (D2, L4), although Murat Yakin’s side may take some confidence from the fact that that solitary victory came on Spanish soil in the UNL in September 2022. Sources of confidence are few and far between for the Swiss at the moment, as this game is a dead rubber for them after a 1-1 draw with Serbia on Friday confirmed their relegation to League B.[/p]
[p]Friday was a bitter pill to swallow for Switzerland, who looked to be climbing off the bottom of their UNL group before an  88th-minute equaliser ultimately confirmed their relegation out of the top flight for the first time ever. Things could yet get worse, as if they don’t beat Spain here, it will be their seventh straight game without victory – their longest competitive winless run since November 1986 (D5, L4)![/p]
[p]Players to watch: After ten goal involvements in his last six matches for Villarreal (G8, A2), Ayoze PĂ©rez has continued that fine form with Spain, scoring and assisting against Denmark. Despite struggling for regular starts at Benfica, Zeki Amdouni is excelling in a Switzerland shirt, having netted three times in his last four internationals, but only one of his last six goalscoring appearances for his country has ended in victory (D4, L1).[/p]
[p]Hot stat: Just two of Switzerland’s last 16 contested UNL matches have been goalless at half-time. [/p]
