Qarabag vs Lyon prediction: EUROPE: Europa League – League phase betting tips on match 2024-11-27 17:45.
[p]After winning just one of their opening four UEFA Europa League (UEL) league phase games (L3), Qarabağ have it all to do if they’re to reach the knockout stages. Their road to redemption starts against Lyon, but with just one win from ten meetings with French opposition in all competitions (D3, L6), their visit seems untimely at best.[/p]
[p]Two defeats from their pair of home games in the UEL main-draw so far certainly won’t inspire confidence they can break that duck here. Incredibly, amongst the teams to have played at least 20 home games in the UEL proper, Qarabağ have the lowest win ratio of any side (18%), winning a mere five of 28 such games (D10, L13).[/p]
[p]Lyon’s campaign has been more successful than the Azerbaijani side’s so far, as they come into matchday five on the periphery of the top-eight (W2, D1, L1). They still have the threat of provisional relegation hanging over them in Ligue 1 if they can’t sort out their finances, but they’re doing a grand job on the field of late, losing just one of their last 11 games in all competitions (W6, D4). [/p]
[p]They’re actually unbeaten across their last seven away games in all competitions (W3, D4), and in the UEL specifically, they’re even more formidable. Lyon have won seven of their last nine UEL away games (D2), a run they’ll hope to continue on this landmark day as they face an Azerbaijani opponent for the first time ever. [/p]
[p]Players to watch: The French born Abdellah Zoubir has scored the game-closing goal with four of his last five club strikes, including in Qarabağ’s last UEL game. Rayan Cherki posted a Flashscore Man of the Match performance against Reims at the weekend, with the goal he scored in that game his eighth successive strike at club level to arrive after the 30th minute. [/p]
[p]Hot stat: Qarabağ’s last seven home games have all seen over 2.5 goals. [/p]
