AS Roma vs Atalanta prediction: ITALY: Serie A betting tips on match 2024-12-01 19:45.
[p]Following a 1-0 defeat against title hopefuls Napoli, which saw Roma lose a fifth game from their last six in Serie A, new coach Claudio Ranieri admitted the club is “in a tight spot”. A last-ditch goal rescued a UEFA Europa League draw against Tottenham (2-2) in midweek to spare Ranieri’s blushes, and he’ll hope that can boost belief ahead of the visit of another title-chasing opponent, Atalanta.[/p]
[p]Roma can at least draw some inspiration from some recent home performances, as they’ve won four of their last seven such matches (D1, L2). However, with both of those defeats arriving against last season’s top-five finishers Bologna and Inter, the hosts will need a perfect performance here against last term’s fourth-place side. Shoring up their defence in the early stages will certainly help them, as Roma have now conceded first in four of the last five competitive matches, including the last three in a row.[/p]
[p]High-flying Atalanta destroyed Young Boys 6-1 in UEFA Champions League (UCL) action in midweek, which marked their tenth competitive victory across their last 11 outings (D1). One of those came in their last Serie A match against Parma (3-1), which kept Atalanta one point off the top ahead of the round and formed part of their current seven-game winning run.[/p]
[p]This is going to be the third consecutive away match for Atalanta, and despite the effects of excessive travelling, their confidence will be boosted by the fact that Gian Piero Gasperini’s men have won each of their last six competitive away matches by at least two-goal margin. Extending with a victory here will be difficult, but they at least look good value to leave the capital with something, having lost just one of the last ten H2Hs held here (W4, D5).[/p]
[p]Players to watch: Hummels’ goal against Spurs means his last four at club level have arrived after the break, three of them after the 80th minute. Incredibly, Charles De Ketelaere contributed to five goals (G2, A3) in Atalanta’s 6-1 UCL demolition in midweek and three of his four competitive strikes this term arrived before the break. [/p]
[p]Hot stat: Ahead of the round, Atalanta have scored a league-high six goals in the opening 15 minutes, whilst Roma remain one of only two teams yet to find the net during that period.[/p]
