Angers Lyon prediction 2024-12-07

Angers vs Lyon prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2024-12-06 20:00.
[p]Just when they were beginning to look over their shoulders at the Ligue 1 relegation spots, Angers produced a solid display to claim a vital 1-0 victory away to Le Havre last weekend. That was the perfect way to bounce back from back-to-back losses, and with one of those coming against table-toppers PSG, the alarm bells won’t be ringing just yet amongst the home faithful, even though they begin this matchday just one point above the bottom three.[/p]

[p]Angers may find the going tough in this latest outing as they welcome a Lyon side who they’ve lost their last three league H2Hs against. Looking even further back, the Black and Whites have been defeated eight times across the last nine meetings between these sides (W1), and with just one home win in this fixture since August 1993, Alexandre Dujeux’s side will have to be at their best to add to that winning total here.[/p]

[p]Lyon appear good value to continue their H2H dominance as they arrive here on the back of a statement 4-1 win over Nice last week. That result extended their unbeaten run to eight league matches (W5, D3) as Les Gones continue to move up the table in their search for European qualification this season. They’ll begin round 14 in a top-five position for the first time since 2020/21, so the mood should be upbeat. [/p]

[p]It’s fair to say that Lyon have fared well on their travels domestically this season too, taking points from all five away trips (W2, D3) since losing 3-0 at Rennes on matchday one. Since then, the visitors have conceded just three goals in total across those five games, whilst winning seven of nine Ligue 1 away games as favourites since 2023/24, which seemingly leaves them well-placed for more success in this latest fixture. [/p]

[p]Players to watch: Jean-Eudes Aholou has been in great form in the heart of midfield of late for Angers, scoring two goals this campaign, whilst he also netted in a Ligue 1 win over Lyon for Strasbourg last season. Malick Fofana is enjoying a breakout campaign for Lyon, scoring six goals across all competitions which notably have all come away from home. [/p]

[p]Hot stat: Angers’ home Ligue 1 matches this season have averaged four total goals – the highest tally in the competition ahead of the round. [/p]
