Monaco vs PSG prediction: FRANCE: Ligue 1 betting tips on match 2024-12-17 20:00.
[p]Last week was a disappointing one for Monaco as they drew blanks against both Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League (L 3-0) and Reims in Ligue 1 (D 0-0) with their pursuit of Ligue 1 leaders and next opponents Paris Saint-Germain taking a hit. The gap between the two sides has now stretched to seven points with Marseille now ahead of Monaco in second place on goal difference.[/p]
[p]If the Monégasques are going to get back on track, then here is the best place to do it as they’ve only lost one of their last 14 home league games (W9, D4), a run that started with a goalless draw in this corresponding fixture last term. And they’ve had the better of recent H2Hs on their own turf too, winning the three prior to that draw while scoring three times in each of those victories.[/p]
[p]That suggests PSG will face a tough test although they remain unbeaten in the league this term (W11, D4) after beating Lyon 3-1 on Sunday evening, taking full advantage of a matchday in which none of the seven teams immediately below them claimed three points. The only blemish on a perfect weekend was the match being halted in the second half due to offensive chanting with PSG players among those urging fans to stop.[/p]
[p]The Parisians will be wary of the trip south as Monaco are the last team to beat them in a Ligue 1 away fixture before their current 31-game unbeaten streak on the road began (W23, D8). While drawing three of their last five league road fixtures (W2) might concern some PSG fans, others might be more optimistic given they scored three times when travelling to the other members of the current top four this term.[/p]
[p]Players to watch: Both of Aleksandr Golovin’s two Ligue 1 strikes this season arrived before half-time, as did his match-opening goal in this fixture in February 2023. PSG’s Désiré Doué has three goal contributions across his last two appearances (G1, A2) and earned a penalty against Lyon.[/p]
[p]Hot stat: Monaco have scored nine (69%) of their second-half goals in Ligue 1 this term after the 75th minute.[/p]
