Ipswich Newcastle prediction 2024-12-21

Ipswich vs Newcastle prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2024-12-20 15:00.
[p]Although still in the relegation zone, the picture could have looked much worse for Ipswich had they not snatched a stoppage-time winner against Wolves last weekend (W 2-1). That was only the Tractor Boys’ second league win of the campaign (D6, L8), and with both coming on the road, improving their substandard home form (D4, L4) undoubtedly holds the key to breaking out of the bottom three.[/p]

[p]Concerningly for Kieran McKenna’s side, only two teams in history have ever failed to win their opening eight home games of a Premier League campaign and gone on to avoid relegation. Bucking that trend looks to be a tall order against a Newcastle side they’ve won just two of the last 13 H2Hs against (D4, L7), but they can perhaps take some small comfort from the fact both wins came at Portman Road.[/p]

[p]Newcastle make the long journey south on a high after their 3-1 midweek win against Brentford earned them a spot in the Carabao Cup semi-finals. Switching focus swiftly back to the Premier League, Eddie Howe’s side sat in an uninspiring 12th place pre-round, although just two points from sixth, which highlights just how important three points are here against the strugglers. [/p]

[p]The Magpies look good value to get those points too, given they’ve lost just one of their last 22 Premier League games against promoted sides (W13, D8). They’ve already beaten the two other newly-promoted sides ‘to nil’ this season, although they were both at home, and some indifferent recent away league form across their last six trips (W1, D2, L3) raises doubts over whether they can complete a hat-trick here. [/p]

[p]Players to watch: It was Jack Taylor who struck Ipswich’s winner against Wolves, and he likes popping up with a late goal given three of his last four came after the 85th minute. A Jacob Murphy goal could lead to a landslide victory, as six of his last seven Newcastle scoring appearances saw the Magpies win and score at least four goals in the process![/p]

[p]Hot stat: Ipswich have scored a joint-league low two second half home goals this season.[/p]
