Leicester Wolves prediction 2024-12-22

Leicester vs Wolves prediction: ENGLAND: Premier League betting tips on match 2024-12-21 14:00.
[p]A battle to avoid falling further into relegation trouble is the pre-Christmas wish for fans of Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers, with both clubs changing managers recently in a bid to turn the tide. Leicester’s new man in charge, Ruud van Nistelrooy suffered his first Premier League defeat against Newcastle last weekend (L 4-0), with an injury to goalkeeper Mads Hermansen a further crushing blow.[/p]

[p]As Van Nistelrooy waits for the opportunity to bring in reinforcements in January, he gets his first taste of a Midlands derby first played in 1906. The Foxes won 2-0 on that day and also scored twice in the last home H2H (W 2-1) as they extended a run of seven home meetings unbeaten (W5, D2), with four of the last five of those accompanied by a clean sheet.[/p]

[p]Given this fixture pits two of the league’s worst three defences against each other, either side winning ‘to nil’ would be a surprise as Vítor Pereira takes charge for the first time following Gary O’Neil’s departure. The much-travelled Portuguese might be the ideal person to marshal Wolves to a first clean sheet since November 9th however, as he’s started four of his last five jobs with a 1-0 win![/p]

[p]That’s still going to be a tall order for a side who’ve won just one of their last 14 Premier League away fixtures (D4, L9) and start the round in 19th place, five points behind Leicester in 17th. It might not be much to celebrate, but regardless of how many goals they score or concede, at least they won’t be spending Christmas Day at the bottom of the table![/p]

[p]Players to watch: Leicester forward Jamie Vardy has scored three times across his last five appearances against Wolves, with all of those goals completing the scoring in victories ‘to nil’. Matheus Cunha scored Wolves’ only goal against Ipswich (L 2-1) last weekend and did likewise against Leicester the last time these teams met.[/p]

[p]Hot stat: Seven of Leicester’s eight home league games this season saw both teams score.[/p]
